
The Anambra State Police Command has made significant progress in its efforts to combat child trafficking and sexual offences.
The police have rescued a stolen six-year-old child and apprehended several suspects in connection with the case.
According to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer Tochukwu Ikenga, an intelligence-based investigation into a case of conspiracy, child stealing, and trafficking led officers to Ondo State, where they successfully rescued the child.
The victim has since been reunited with his biological mother, and the suspects involved have been charged in the Children, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence Court.

In a separate incident on August 13, operatives from the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu arrested 18-year-old Uchenna Nweke in the Ebenebe community.
He was taken into custody following a distress call regarding the defilement of an 11-year-old girl.
Preliminary findings and a medical report revealed that the suspect allegedly forced his way into a bathroom where the victim was bathing before sexually assaulting her.
Nweke is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Wednesday, August 20.
Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu has reaffirmed the command’s dedication to safeguarding children and other vulnerable populations.
He assured the public that all individuals who commit such crimes will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
