Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, has derisively commented on the performance of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the recent by-elections.
The ADC, which recently formed a coalition to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, failed to win any seats in the polls.
The ADC coalition, which was unveiled in July, is a political bloc featuring prominent figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi.
The coalition has been gaining traction as it positions itself as a viable alternative for Nigerians amid widespread discontent over economic challenges and security concerns.
However, the APC demonstrated its political strength in last weekend’s re-run elections across 16 constituencies.

The ruling party secured a decisive victory, winning 12 of the 16 seats, with the remaining four seats going to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The ADC, despite its high-profile members, did not secure a single victory.
Following the results, Onanuga took to X (formerly Twitter) to taunt the ADC leadership with the question, “How is the market now?” His post included a photo of Atiku and Obi.
In response to the election outcome, the ADC has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to investigate claims of irregularities.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, issued a statement on Sunday urging INEC to hold any officials found to have compromised the integrity of the election accountable.
He stressed the need for action to restore public trust in the electoral process.
Meanwhile, the APC has interpreted its success in the by-elections as a clear endorsement of President Tinubu’s administration and its “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
