Following the conclusion of the direct primaries across the country, Uzodimma praised party members in the sate for what he called an orderly, calm, and peaceful exercise.

In a statement posted on his X page on Tuesday, he said the process had helped produce credible candidates for both the Senate and the House of Representatives, pending final confirmation from the party’s national leadership.

The APC conducted its primaries using the direct system, which allowed registered party members to participate directly in selecting candidates.

Across wards and local government areas in Imo State, the exercise reportedly went smoothly, with no major disruptions recorded.

Democratic structures

Uzodimma said the conduct reflected the party’s growing maturity and commitment to strengthening its internal democratic structures.

“With the Direct Primary Election, we have continued to strengthen the democratic foundation and internal processes of our great party, we remained united, orderly, and peaceful throughout the exercise,” he said.

Although voting has ended, the Governor noted that the results still require formal approval from the APC national headquarters.

The final list of successful candidates will be released after the party completes its verification and ratification process.

Uzodimma thanked the state leadership of the APC and party members for ensuring transparency and order during the exercise.

He also expressed optimism about the party’s prospects as it moves closer to the general elections, stressing the importance of unity and shared purpose.

“As we move forward into the remaining phases of the electoral process, we remain optimistic, focused, and committed to the unity and progress of our party,” he added.
