Arbeloa exit signals Real Madrid reset as Mourinho nears return

Real Madrid head coach Alvaro Arbeloa has confirmed that he will leave the club at the end of the season. His departure comes amid strong expectations that Jose Mourinho will return.

The 43-year-old was promoted from Real Madrid B in January, replacing Xabi Alonso. However, a difficult spell means his tenure will end without silverware.

Mourinho, who has been in charge of Benfica this season, is in final negotiations to take charge. His potential return would mark a dramatic reunion with the Spanish giants.

Speaking before the final match, Arbeloa addressed speculation about his future role.

“Mou has a fantastic technical team, he’s got good people around him. If he comes to Madrid he will come with his team,” Arbeloa said.

“There’s no chance that I would be with him. Then, my future… from Monday I’ll think about that.”

Real will finish the season as La Liga runners-up without a major trophy again. Their Champions League exit to Bayern Munich added further disappointment to their campaign.

Mourinho return looms as Madrid face leadership uncertainty and possible presidential election battle

Arbeloa admitted he hopes this is not a permanent farewell to the club.”I hope it’s a see you later… I’ve always considered this my home,” he said.

“It will be my last game this season as coach of Real Madrid. I don’t know if it will be the last game of my life as coach of Real Madrid.”

After careful analysis by the NRTC sports desk, it has been revealed that deeper structural concerns are behind his departure. For example, results fell below expectations, but the context was equally challenging.

Stepping in mid-season at a club demanding instant success is rarely sustainable. Moreover, dressing-room tensions and inconsistency compounded the pressure.

The arrival of Mourinho signals a shift toward proven authority and control. Yet uncertainty remains around timing due to potential presidential elections.

Florentino Perez faces a challenge from Enrique Riquelme, complicating club decisions. Consequently, Mourinho’s appointment could hinge on political developments.

David Alaba will also leave, ending a five-year spell marked by success and injury setbacks. His exit further shows the scale of Madrid’s ongoing transition.
