President Bola Tinubu has called on Christians to pray for Nigeria’s leaders and support them as part of the nation’s journey toward progress and unity during this Christmas season.

In a statement personally signed by him, the President highlighted the vital role of collective support in advancing the nation.

He expressed optimism about Nigeria’s path toward restoration and growth, urging citizens to remain hopeful and believe in the country’s brighter future.

Tinubu also called on Christians to extend compassion to those in need, emphasising that acts of kindness should reach everyone—neighbours, family members, and individuals encountered in daily life, whether in places of worship, markets, offices, or boardrooms.

He further encouraged prayers and support for the nation’s armed forces, commending their courage and sacrifice in safeguarding the country.

“Our troops who risk their lives daily to protect us deserve our unwavering prayers and gratitude,” he said.

Reflecting on the significance of Christmas, Tinubu described it as a celebration of love, peace, and unity, reminding Nigerians that light and hope can prevail even in the darkest moments.

“Christmas fulfils divine prophecy and symbolizes the triumph of love and peace, a message that resonates universally,” he noted.

He expressed deep sorrow over recent tragic incidents in Ibadan, Okija, and Abuja, extending his condolences to the victims’ families and pledging that efforts would continue to prevent such occurrences.

“May these tragedies never revisit our communities, and may the lives of innocents never be cut short again,” he said.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by many Nigerians this year, including natural disasters and accidents, Tinubu offered words of solace.

“To those enduring pain or loss, may your faith, the love of family, and the enduring presence of Jesus Christ bring you comfort and strength. Our compassionate and merciful God is always with the weak and brokenhearted,” he assured.

Tinubu emphasised the power of kindness that transcends financial differences, urging all Nigerians to share smiles and words of encouragement.

He also wished safe travels to all during the festive season, assuring citizens that the government has taken measures to make transportation safer and more accessible.

“We’ve introduced free train services and subsidized road transport across 144 routes nationwide to ease your journeys,” he announced.

The President extended warm wishes to all Nigerians, saying, “Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to you and your families. Let us celebrate with love and hope, confident in the promise of a better Nigeria.”
