EFCC uncovers cybercrime training centre in Abia, arrests 23 suspects

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have dismantled a suspected cybercrime training facility, known as Yahoo-Yahoo Hustle Kingdom, in Umuahia, Abia State.

According to a statement from the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, the facility was uncovered yesterday.

This follows credible intelligence.

The operation led to the arrest of 23 suspects, including eight alleged trainees undergoing cybercrime tutorials and 15 others believed to be part of the network.

The eight arrested trainees were identified as Toona Henry, Tavershima Solomon, Chi Orseer James, Ubee Benjamin, Gabriel Ibe Ifeanyi, Tindue Godwin, Muhammed Terwase Michael, and Destiny Andrew.

Others apprehended include Okezie Almond, Precious Osmond, Kenneth Prospect, Iweobi Chika Augustine, Nedolisa Victor, Kanu Austin, Anolu David, Collins Chinedu, Joshua Nnamdi, Ogechi Chibuzor, Michael Chinonso, Prince Chigozie, Festus Nwogu, Michael Lazarus, and Kingsley Ndubuisi.

The EFCC disclosed that the suspects were arrested at the training hub, located within the Doofco Palace building behind Government College, Umuahia, while others were picked up at various locations in Umudike, Ahiaeke, and Umugu—all within Umuahia.

Items recovered during the raid included two vehicles, 15 laptops, and 34 mobile phones.

The commission confirmed that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
