President Bola Tinubu has urged Muslims across the country to reflect on the teachings and exemplary qualities of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Maulud.
The President’s message was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, titled, ‘Eid-el-Maulud: Tinubu Urges Muslims to Imbibe Virtues of Prophet Muhammad.’
Tinubu said the celebration should go beyond commemorating the birth of the Prophet, encouraging Muslims to use the occasion for self-reflection, prayer and a renewed commitment to the values demonstrated by Muhammad.
He said, “The Muslim faithful should make a deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
“There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet.”
The President also called on Islamic leaders to dedicate the period to prayers for the nation while encouraging their followers to apply the lessons of the Prophet’s life to their responsibilities as citizens.
He further appealed to Muslims marking the occasion to show compassion by supporting the less privileged and vulnerable members of society.
Tinubu also urged Nigerians to pray for an end to insecurity and other challenges affecting parts of the country.
