Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia said increased federal revenue allocations arising from the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu had strengthened the state’s capacity to undertake infrastructure projects and revive moribund government-owned enterprises.
Alia spoke on Wednesday during a press briefing titled, “The Impact of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Economic Reforms on Benue State,” at the State House Press Gallery.
The governor praised the Federal Government for what he described as the political commitment to implement far-reaching economic reforms.

He said the policies had resulted in higher monthly allocations to state governments, giving Benue more financial resources to address inherited obligations, improve workers’ welfare and invest in key sectors of the economy.
According to him, the additional funds had enabled his administration to prioritise agricultural industrialisation and urban development through the establishment of new processing facilities and the rehabilitation of abandoned state assets.

He listed the Bensono Juice and Concentrate Factory as one of the projects aimed at reducing post-harvest losses among fruit farmers in the state.
He also mentioned the Food Basket Breweries, which he described as a new beverage-processing venture, as well as Taraku Mills Limited, an agro-allied processing company undergoing major rehabilitation ahead of its planned return to production.
Alia further said the state government had improved its logistical and operational support for security agencies, adding that the intervention had strengthened intelligence gathering and improved the mobility of personnel involved in crime prevention operations.
The governor assured residents that his administration would continue to apply public funds transparently and ensure value for money in the execution of projects.

He also appealed for the cooperation of Benue people in efforts to build a safer and more economically self-reliant state.
