Talent is an essential element in the anatomy of an entertainer. The ability to harness that talent into an art which propels you into a force to be reckoned with, is no mean feat. Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz The Bahd Guy, is such a force within the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Combining talent, hard work and focus
Falz is a talented young man, no doubt. His artistic prowess stood out from his days in secondary school when he started out in music with a group of friends. That talent didn’t die even as he went to the university and bagged a degree in Law.
He gained prominence after releasing some singles in 2011. He also delved into acting with his remarkable performance as ‘Segun’ in Jenifaās Diary.
Entertainment seems to be a gift of nature to the Lagos-born celebrity. However, one cannot overrule the effect of hard work and where it has placed Folarin Falana today. Focus is another virtue that holds true.
A combination of all these has placed him in the league of Nigeria’s A-list musicians. He remains consistent with his art due to his resilience and resolution to make a name for himself.
It takes a special type of human to excel as a musician, actor, lawyer, and comedian. The son of one of Nigeria’s legal luminaries, he ditched law for music. However he has stated that he often keeps tabs on the profession so as to maintain relevance in the field.

Often, Falana would make funny skits for the entertainment of his fans. He is famous for switching his accent and this has become his trademark. Falz is fun to watch as he embodies the totality of an entertainer.
The 30 year-old is not resting on his achievements any time soon. He is rolling up his sleeves to provide even more entertainment for his ever increasing fan base.
Who is Folarin Falana?
Folarin was born on October 27, 1990 in Mushin, Lagos. He is the son of popular Nigerian lawyers and human rights activists, Femi and Funmi Falana. He had his primary and secondary education in Lagos and Osun states before proceeding to England for his tertiary education.
In 2014, he released his first album titled ‘Wazup Guy’. 2015 saw the release of his second album, ‘Stories That Touch’. His third album release – 27 -coincided with his 27th birthday.
Many did not expect the release of that album because it was not fiercely promoted before that day. The album had songs like, Bahd Baddo Baddest, Something Light, among others.
In 2018, Falz released a single titled ‘This is Nigeria’, in which he talked about the ills in the country. It was a mock song of Childish Gambinoās ‘This is America’. However, National Broadcasting Commission banned the song for portraying Nigeria in a negative light. His fourth studio album, ‘Moral Instruction’ was released in January 2019.
The achievements of Falana in the entertainment industry have not gone unnoticed. In 2016, he won the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) for Best Actor in a Comedy Movie/Series for his role in Jenifaās Diary.
Likewise, he won the 2018 AMVCA for āBest Supporting Actorā for his role in ‘New Money’. Moreover, he was voted as the winner of the Viewerās Choice Best New International Act at the 2016 BET Awards.
Falz is the boss at Bahd Guys Records (music recording company) and Houses21TV (film recording company).

Falz is known for voicing his opinions on public issues. He was a formidable voice in the #EndSARS protests as he became one of the most vocal celebrities in the call to bring an end to police brutality.
