Nollywood veteran and gospel minister, Eucharia Anunobi, has opened up about the loss of her teenage son, revealing that mistakes during his hospital care contributed to his death.
Anunobi spoke about the incident during a recent appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast, sharing the challenges she faced while her son, Raymond Ekwu, was critically ill.
She explained that a student doctor attended to her son at a time when he urgently needed a blood transfusion. Instead of giving him the life-saving transfusion, blood was reportedly taken from his body.
Three pints were removed while Raymond was already weak, which worsened his condition and made his survival even more difficult.

The actress also discussed the emotional and financial strain she endured during the period, managing hospital bills and other responsibilities alone.
She explained that all the pressure fell on her as she tried to support her son through his illness.
She said: She said: “Instead of the student doctor to do blood transfusion, the student doctor did blood extraction… I removed 3 pints of my son’s blood. I was the one paying rent, I was the one doing everything. Charles never brought 1 Naira.”
Raymond had been battling complications from sickle cell disease for years. He passed away in 2017 after struggling with the condition, leaving Anunobi to reflect on the painful circumstances surrounding his care and loss.
