The singer, who moved to Lagos after completing his studies at Obafemi Awolowo University, explained that the city played a significant role in shaping him into the person he is today. According to him, the experiences he had there contributed greatly to his development and artistic expression.

During a recent conversation with Spotify, the “Sungba” hitmaker shared how Lagos has been a major source of inspiration for his songs.

“Lagos taught me how to live like a man. Lagos inspired most of my songs,” he said.

Asake also expressed gratitude for the global recognition his music has received. He acknowledged that many talented artists remain unheard, despite their abilities, and said he feels fortunate for the opportunity he has been given.

He said, “I’m happy because there are a lot of people who make music out there and a lot of people who are more talented than me. I’m thankful to God that I’m able to use the talent He gave me -not only locally but also globally. So for that, I give all thanks to God.”
