Nigerian reality TV star and Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner, Mercy Eke, has shared her thoughts on having children outside marriage, saying she would not mind becoming a mother even if she is not married.
In a recent podcast, Eke revealed that while she is not actively trying to get pregnant out of wedlock, she would embrace it if it happened.
She added that being a single mother would not hold her back, pointing out that society’s criticism usually affects women who are struggling financially.
Eke also spoke about her family plans, saying she wants three children, preferably two girls and a boy or three girls, as she has a particular fondness for daughters.
She noted that successful women, even as single mothers, often receive attention from men, and she believes her status and independence would allow her to navigate life as a mother while still exploring relationships.

The reality star also commented on her expectations for a partner, saying that although she has many suitors, she has not yet met a man who meets her standards.
She made it clear that having a child would not stop her from pursuing love and potential marriage in the future.
“I won’t go the extra miles to get pregnant out of wedlock. But if it just happens, I would leave it and I would have my baby. I want three kids; two girls and one boy or three girls. I love female children.
“Even if don’t get married, I would still have kids. What most people don’t know is that the stigma of being a single mother only applies to women who don’t have things going well for them.
“The women [single mothers] that are shattering glasses, men are begging them for marriage. I can get married tomorrow if I want to. But what I want in a man, I have not seen it. It’s not like there is no suitor. There are plenty… So, even if I have a baby, I would still see a man,” she expressed.
