The Kwara State Government has commenced the construction of a new office complex, a move aimed at expanding capacity for public and civil servants and enhancing the delivery of services to its citizens.

The official groundbreaking ceremony saw the state government hand over the construction site to Mapet Construction Ltd. in Ilorin, the state capital.

The planned single-story structure will be erected adjacent to the Deputy Governor’s Office within the Government House precinct in Ilorin, according to Segun Ogunsola, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development.

Ogunsola also took the opportunity to refute circulating rumours claiming the government was building a new Government House, dismissing such reports as false.

He clarified that the new offices are part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration’s ongoing commitment to providing an appropriate and conducive working environment for government personnel.

The new facility is designed to include a conference room and numerous office spaces, among other amenities. Ogunsola assured that his Ministry would rigorously oversee the project to ensure a high-quality outcome within the stipulated one-year completion timeframe, urging the contractor to adhere strictly to specifications.

“These new offices will bridge existing gaps and meet the current trend of enhancing the smooth running of the state to deepen democratic dividends for the people in both the rural and urban areas,” Ogunsola stated, emphasising the project’s importance for statewide development.

The site handover ceremony was attended by key officials, including QS Raheem Abdulbaki, General Manager of the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency; Alhaja Risikat Atinuke, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development; Alhaji Shina Akorede, Director of Administration and Finance at Government House, Ilorin; and representatives from the project’s consultant, Baron Architecture, led by Adepeju Ogunsakin.

Architect Awolola Tolulope, representing Mapet Construction Ltd., expressed the company’s commitment to the project.

He highlighted the firm’s proven track record of delivering quality work within agreed timelines and pledged to complete the new office complex to a high standard within the one-year schedule.
