Manchester United have secured the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig in a high-profile deal worth £73.7m.
The Slovenia forward has penned a five-year agreement with the club. The package includes an initial £66.3m payment, with the rest tied to performance-based add-ons.
Importantly, the 22-year-old’s arrival marks United’s third major attacking addition this transfer window. Before him, the club brought in Matheus Cunha for £62.5m and Bryan Mbeumo for £65m plus £6m in bonuses. Although Newcastle United were keen to land Sesko, he opted for Old Trafford instead.

A fresh era under Ruben Amorim
Last season, United struggled in the league, finishing 15th, while Newcastle secured fifth and a Champions League spot. The Magpies also lifted the EFL Cup. Nevertheless, Sesko was drawn to Manchester United’s vision under manager Ruben Amorim.

Explaining his decision, Sesko said the history of the club played a part, but the future excites him more. He shared that during discussions, it became clear the project is geared toward returning to the top. According to him, the infrastructure and plans in place can help the team fight for major trophies again soon.
From his first day at the club, Sesko claimed he sensed a positive and family-like atmosphere. He believes this environment will help him reach his peak potential and achieve his professional ambitions. Moreover, he expressed eagerness to learn from Amorim and bond with his teammates.
The Slovenian forward ended by stating his confidence in what the squad can accomplish together. With his signing, Manchester United signal a strong intent to rebuild and re-establish themselves among the elite. The combination of fresh attacking options and a new managerial approach could be the turning point the fans have been waiting for.
