Meta has unveiled a new monetisation feature on Facebook that allows creators to earn money from public story views, the company announced.
The feature is available to creators already enrolled in Facebook’s content monetisation programme. It enables them to generate income from previously created content shared as stories.
“For instance, if a user posts a cooking tutorial video or reel and shares part of it as a story, they can now earn from the story views as well,” Meta explained.
Beyond promotional content, everyday stories shared by creators can also be monetised. According to a Meta spokesperson, earnings will depend on content performance rather than a fixed view count.
“This initiative aims to encourage creators to produce more content for Facebook,” the company stated.

Creators who are already part of the monetisation programme will automatically benefit from this new feature without needing to take additional steps.
Facebook launched its content monetisation programme last year, inviting millions of users to participate. The company plans to expand the programme later this year, allowing more users to join. Those not currently enrolled can express interest through an invitation on Facebook’s monetisation website.
