President Bola Tinubu has accepted the resignation of the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Geoffrey Nnaji, effective Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

The resignation follows a period of mounting public pressure and allegations concerning the minister’s academic qualifications.

Nnaji, who was appointed by Tinubu in August 2023, submitted his letter of resignation today.

In his letter, the former minister expressed his gratitude to Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the nation. He also stated that he had been the target of blackmail orchestrated by political opponents.

Confirming the development, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced that Tinubu accepted the resignation.

The President, in turn, thanked Nnaji for his service to the nation and wished him well in his future endeavors.

The minister’s exit comes as several media reports have surfaced in recent days, focusing on the authenticity of the academic and national service certificates he presented during his ministerial screening.
