Mohbad deserves justice –Naira Marley


Nigerian singer and songwriter, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has called for thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba known as Mohbad. 

Recall that the cause of 27-years-old Mohbad who died on Tuesday and was buried in Ikorodu on Wednesday is yet unknown. 

News Round The Clock (NRTC) gathered that the duo had a fallout last year, leading to Mohbad leaving the label.

NRTC further learnt that Nigerians, especially Netizens had called out Mohbad former boss for being responsible for his death, but it did not stop the Marlian Music boss from mourning the singer. 

Naira Marley via his Instagram page said the late Mohbad and the record label only had a disagreement but no harm whatsoever was wished on him. 

He vowed that his record label owed it to Mohbad to assist with uncovering any foul play or injustice.

Naira Marley added that he was shattered over the passing of Mohbad, whom he said was more than an artist or signee but a brother who ended as a dearest friend.

In his deepest condolences to the family and loved ones, Naira Marley said ‘We are all heartbroken by his tragic loss and will be truly missed.’ 

He added that from inception, he recognised the late singer as a force to be reckoned with because his music gave many people love and light.

“Mohbad touched us all with his heartfelt lyrics, storytelling, infectious smile, and energy. The news of his passing has left us with a permanent hole in our hearts,” the Marlian boss said.

“Mohbad is an incredible street pop star who contributed to the foundation of the Marlian Music. Despite his departure heat year we continually championed his talent. No family is perfect, families have disagreements but no harm whatsoever was wished on Mohbad. So many things left unsaid but the love was always there. This tragedy is not only a loss for us but to everyone you touched musically around the world. 

“As we share our condolences to the late Mohbed, we would like to echo a cell for 2 thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death. We’re unhappy and unsettled with everything we have witnessed since Tuesday the 12th Sept. Our brother deserved a better send off, it saddens us that we couldn’t assist with providing a befitting burial. We will continue our efforts to reach out to the family. 

“We urge our colleagues in the media to treat this matter with the utmost sensitivity, respect and care. We publicly appeal to the authors to do due diligence and we will work closely to support those handling the matter. Finally urge the online community to refrain from circulating damaging accusations that could compromise the investigation. Rest well Imole, forever in our hearts. Yours Sincerely.”
