Politics: ADC blasts Tinubu govt over World Bank report showing 139 million Nigerians living in poverty

NRTC WEEKLY learnt that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) criticised the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, asserting that a new World Bank report confirms that the government’s actions have “ruined the lives and livelihoods of the majority of Nigerians.”

The ADC’s rebuke centres on the World Bank’s October 2025 report, which indicates that 139 million Nigerians are now living below the poverty line, a significant increase from 81 million in 2019.

Leading Stories: Minister Nnaji resigns amidst allegations of certificates forgery

NRTC WEEKLY reported President Bola Tinubu accepted the resignation of the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Geoffrey Nnaji, effective Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

The resignation follows a period of mounting public pressure and allegations concerning the minister’s academic qualifications.

Nnaji, who was appointed by Tinubu in August 2023, submitted his letter of resignation today.

In his letter, the former minister expressed his gratitude to Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the nation. He also stated that he had been the target of blackmail orchestrated by political opponents.

Business: FCCPC withdraws case against MultiChoice Nigeria and CEO John Ugbe

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has withdrawn its case against MultiChoice Nigeria Limited, its Chief Executive Officer, John Ugbe, and several directors, ending months of legal dispute over alleged obstruction of an ongoing investigation.

The FCCPC’s legal team, led by Nsitem Chizenum, announced the withdrawal of the case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/197/2025 during Tuesday’s court session in Abuja.

The decision followed an out-of-court settlement between both parties.
