Super Eagles defender Chibuike Nwaiwu has received a major personal lift ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup final.
The young centre-back recently became a father, and the timing only adds emotional significance to Nigeria’s Unity Cup clash against Jamaica.
Trabzonspor confirmed the birth of his daughter earlier this week. The club shared the news with a heartfelt message.
“Our football player Chibuike Nwaiwu and Melissa couple had a daughter today,” the message read.
“We wholeheartedly congratulate Chibuike Nwaiwu on the joy of becoming a father and wish their little one, whom they named Jacinta, a healthy and happy life,” Trabzonspor added.
Nwaiwu featured in Nigeria’s semi-final win over Zimbabwe as the Super Eagles secured a comfortable 2-0 victory in that encounter.
He partnered Igoh Ogbu in central defence during the match and together, they delivered a composed and disciplined performance.
