Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved financial support for two Delta State students, Chinedu Great Okediachi and Oghenetano Idoghor, as they prepare to represent Nigeria and Africa at the Spelling Bee World Cup scheduled for July 2026 in China.
According to the Governor, the gesture reflects his administration’s commitment to education and human capital development.

“The achievements of these students show the immense potential of our youth. We will continue to support them to excel on the world stage,” Oborevwori said.

The students, both from Madonna International School, Asaba, earned their places at the global competition after excelling at the African Spelling Bee Championship in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Chinedu emerged as Africa’s first runner‑up, while Oghenetano also recorded an impressive performance, bringing honour to Delta State and Nigeria.
The Delta State Government noted that the students’ participation underscores its broader vision of advancing education and empowering young people to compete internationally. The support, they added, is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen education and showcase Nigeria’s talent globally.
