Police arrest 26 linked to Benue killings

Twenty-six suspects have been taken into custody over their alleged involvement in the deadly attack that claimed over 100 lives in Yelewata community, Benue State.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, announced the arrests on Tuesday during a briefing at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

This comes just days after President Bola Tinubu ordered security agencies to act swiftly following the large-scale killings.

The President had earlier visited Benue, where he met with key figures including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, former governors, traditional rulers, and state governors from Kwara, Imo, Kogi, Plateau, Ondo, and Nasarawa.
