Premier League Week 4 Preview

Premier League

It’s the last round of Premier League action before the international break. It has also been an electric start to the season with goals, fun and late drama.

Game week 4 promises to be fun-packed as it’s a good old fashioned Saturday and Sunday affair with some cracking fixtures to anticipate.

Here’s our preview into this week’s Premier League action.

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

The weekend kicks off with a London derby between Frank Lampard’s men and Crystal Palace. Chelsea hasn’t had the best of starts to the new season but would be looking to turn things around.

Some players returning to action from injury and the arrival of new goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, should provide a much needed boost.

They host Crystal Palace has had a better start to the season. They are sitting 2 points above them on the league table. However, Chelsea remain favourites to take away all three points.

Everton vs Brighton

Carlo Ancelotti’s men have been in fine form this season grabbing all 9 points from their first 3 games. They currently sit 2nd on the table behind Leicester City only on goal difference.

The Toffees will be looking to extend their winning streak as they face Brighton at home. Brighton has played wonderfully well under Graham Potter but was out of luck against Manchester United last week. Again, the home side remain favourites to win the game.

Leeds United vs Manchester City

This promises to be a game of goals as both teams are known for scoring in multiples.

However, both teams are also struggling in defense.

Though Pep Guardiola’s Citizens are favourites, Marcelo Bielsa’s men have proven they can defeat any team that comes their way. This will most likely be a box office encounter.

Newcastle United vs Burnley

The Magpies welcome Sean Dyche’s men at home for the last game of Saturday. Newcastle United has not been great this season but has managed to grab 4 points out of their first 3 fixtures.

They seem to lack attacking intent as they’ve had just 4 shots on target this season. Their fixture against Burnley, however, seems to come at the right time. Burnley hasn’t upheld their defensive reputation of last season, conceding 5 goals already this term.

Sunday Premier League action

Leicester City vs West Ham United

Brendan Rodgers’ men have been ecstatic this season, sitting at the top of the Premier League table following a 5-2 victory over Manchester City last weekend.

As they face West Ham at home, it looks easy to grab all 3 points but David Moyes’ men could well put on a show as they did against Wolves last week.

Southampton vs West Bromwich Albion

Ralph Hasenhuttl has once managed to rejuvenate his side after a heavy loss and seems to be at it again after their 5-2 loss to Tottenham.

His side looked much more composed and organized in their 1-0 victory and would look to continue in winning ways as they face West Brom on Sunday.

West Brom doesn’t look to have adapted well to life in the top flight, grabbing just 1 point in their first 3 games.

Arsenal vs Sheffield United

The Gunners were unable to upset Liverpool’s Premier League winning streak at Anfield on Monday. They lost 3-1 but would look to get back to winning against Sheffield.

Chris Wilder’s men have not yet managed to replicate last season’s performance, but looked more compact against Leeds United. Could the addition of Rhian Brewster to Sheffield’s attacking ranks hand them their first win of the season?

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Fulham

This seems like the perfect fixture for Wolves to put behind them an embarrassing defeat by West Ham.

Fulham clearly has defensive problems, which they would like to correct as acknowledged by their Director of Football.

We recall that they were relegated after just one season in the Premier League during 2018/2019. Sorting out the issues in defense is one way to avoid the same thing happening this time around.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

It’s a Super Sunday encounter between United and Spurs. It has been a busy week for Jose Mourinho’s men as they’ll be playing their fourth game in 8 days against United on Sunday.

Tottenham has been in good form this past week and looks equipped to get their first win over Solksjaer’s men since Mourinho’s appointment.

Manchester United, on the other hand,  had a slow start to the season but seems to be getting sharper as they’ve won their last 3 games in all competitions.

Aston Villa vs Liverpool

Dean Smith’s Villa seems to have turned a corner winning their first two games of the season. They have made good use of the window and look better organized than the previous season.

However, grabbing a win over current champions seems a tall order for the Villains as The Reds seem to have picked from where they left off last season.
