Salah and Van Dijk reach milestones in Liverpool’s triumph over Brentford

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk recorded landmark achievements as they both helped Liverpool see off Brentford on Sunday evening.

Colombian forward Luis Díaz and Egyptian winger Salah scored in Liverpool’s statement 2-0 win at Anfield. Van Dijk – alongside Ibrahima Konate in centre-back – was a standout performers during the encounter.

Against the Bees, Salah recorded his 128th goal contribution in 128 English Premier League home outings for Liverpool after he bagged the second goal.

The former Roma and Chelsea attacker has scored 93 goals and created 35 assists for Liverpool in the league.

Today’s goal is Salah’s second in the league and third goal contribution after two matchdays this season. Last week, he had assisted Diogo Jota’s opener before netting the second as the Reds beat Ipswich Town 2-0 away from home.

Meanwhile, Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk achieved an incredible record against Brentford.

Reaching a century Premier League home appearances for a great club as Liverpool is largely commendable but doing so with only two defeats along the way is even more applaudable.

Van Dijk has an enviable record of 82 wins, 16 draws, and just 2 losses in 100 home league matches.

The win on Sunday means the 2019 Champions League winners now have maximum points so far this term. Salah and Van Dijk played important roles in those victories. They are also yet to concede so far this campaign – prefect start to life for new Dutch manager Arne Slot.
