Sporting Lagos have secured promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League, completing a remarkable return just two years after their relegation.
The Tech Boys edged Osun United 1-0 at the Lanre Leke Township Stadium in Ileogbo on Thursday. Alex Leme scored the decisive goal in the 17th minute, nodding home Aliyu Baba’s precise cross.
Clinton Lawal produced a series of crucial saves in the second half to preserve the victory and confirm promotion. The Lagos side topped NNL Conference B with 36 points from 18 matches, one point ahead of former NPFL champions Akwa United.

Sporting Lagos previously tasted NPFL football in the 2023/24 season but were relegated on the final matchday of that campaign. They become the third team to secure promotion this season, following Doma United and Inter Lagos.
With this result, Lagos State will now have three clubs in the NPFL for the 2026/27 season. Sporting Lagos join Inter Lagos and Ikorodu City, giving the commercial capital massive representation in Nigeria’s top division.
The development sets up multiple Lagos derbies next season, with matches between Sporting Lagos, Inter Lagos and Ikorodu City expected to draw attention across the country.
