Nigeria’s Super Falcons have beaten Benin and are now heading back to the 2026 edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), after sealing qualification in front of their fans.
Although Benin pushed hard late in the second leg match played on Tuesday, the Nigerian side kept their composure to finish the job in Abeokuta. And with a 3–1 aggregate scoreline, the Falcons deservedly booked their ticket to Morocco 2026.
Ashleigh Plumptre put the hosts ahead after only 12 minutes, finishing calmly following a bright Nigerian start. Her early strike lifted the atmosphere at the MKO Abiola Stadium, as the Super Falcons controlled possession confidently. And despite Benin defending in numbers, Nigeria continued to create the clearer openings throughout the first half.
However, Benin returned more determined after the break, refusing to give up easily. Yasiminath Djibril levelled on the day, firing a spectacular free-kick past Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie. That goal gave the visitors belief, and Nigeria were forced to work harder to maintain their advantage overall.

Nigeria advance to Morocco 2026 with job well done
Even though the pressure increased late on, the Falcons defended smartly to hold off Benin’s advances. They never panicked, because their earlier 2–0 win in Lome provided valuable cushion. And with time running out, Nigeria closed out the match with maturity and calm discipline.
