Nigeria have been drawn against Benin Republic in the final qualifying round for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to hold between October 20 and 28, 2025.
The officials fixed the first leg for Benin Republic, while the return leg would take place in Nigeria. The winner of the two-legged tie would qualify for the tournament in Morocco.
Benin advanced after defeating Sierra Leone 5-2 on aggregate in the previous round. They won 2-1 in Togo and 3-1 in Monrovia, as Sierra Leone lacked a CAF-approved stadium.
Nigeria, who already won the continental championship a record ten times, would be seeking another qualification as they attempt to defend their crown in Morocco.

The 2026 WAFCON tournament would also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The four semi-finalists would automatically secure tickets to the global tournament.
The Super Falcons, regarded as Africa’s most successful women’s football team, would therefore be aiming to maintain their dominance and extend their title record.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Football Federation have confirmed the fixture dates and emphasised its preparation to ensure the team advanced to the finals.
