Tinubu appoints new members to university governing councils, principal officers

President Bola Tinubu has announced new appointments to the governing councils of two federal universities and named the principal officers for the Federal University of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe, Zamfara State.

Chisom Obih was appointed to the Governing Council of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University in Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, filling a vacancy left by the death of a previous member.

Ralph Akinfeleye, a distinguished communications expert, will now serve on the Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Akinfeleye, who formerly led the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos, replaces Wahab Owokoniran, who was recently appointed as Pro-Chancellor for the Federal University of Transport in Daura, Katsina State.

Tinubu also named the inaugural principal officers for the Federal University of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe.

Prof. Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai was appointed as the Vice Chancellor.

Yakasai, a retired Colonel and Provost of the College of Health Sciences at Bayero University, Kano, holds an MBBS from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has extensive postgraduate qualifications from the UK and USA.

Hamisu Yusuf Yelwa is the new Registrar, Usman Nakazalle Sanusi will serve as the Bursar, and Dr Shehu Aminu Liman was named the Librarian.
