President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate recruitment of 200 outstanding former National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members into the federal civil service.
He also awarded each of them ₦250,000 for their dedication during their service between 2020 and 2023.
The announcement was made during the combined President’s NYSC Honours Award Ceremony held in Abuja, where the former corps members were celebrated for their service to the country.
Representing the President, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, said the selected individuals will also receive scholarships to further their studies at the postgraduate level in any Nigerian university.
Ten physically challenged ex-corps members who became disabled during their service were also granted automatic federal employment, with the president assuring them of the government’s continued support and recognition of their sacrifice.
The President directed the Head of Civil Service of the Federation and the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission to immediately start the employment process for all honorees.

He noted that the awardees showed exceptional character and urged Nigerian youths to remain hopeful and committed to building the nation, despite the country’s challenges.
Among the 200 honorees were top male and female performers drawn from different states across the country.
They were recognised for their impact during their service year, including in education, health, and community development.
Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, while speaking at the event, praised the President’s continued support for youth-focused initiatives, including startup development and technology-driven job creation.
He pointed to the recent increase in corps members’ monthly allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000 as one of the steps taken to support the welfare of Nigerian youth.
