Legendary Italian designer and fashion icon, Giorgio Armani has died at the age of 91, passing away peacefully at home on September 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
The Armani Group officially confirmed his passing earlier today, marking the end of an era for one of fashion’s most influential figures.
Armani revolutionized modern fashion with his minimalist, unstructured tailoring, introducing sleek soft jackets and muted tones that defined the power suit era of the 1980s.

Starting his label in 1975, Armani grew it into a global luxury empire spanning fashion, fragrances, home décor, and hospitality. By the time of his death, the business was generating annual revenues in the billions, and Armani remained its sole owner, preserving creative independence and a clear vision

In their heartfelt statement, the Armani Group declared: “With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani.” They added that he had been “indefatigable to the end… dedicating himself to the company, its collections and the many ongoing and future projects”
The Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni saluted him as a “symbol of the best of Italy” whose elegance and creativity enriched national prestige.
A funeral chamber will be set up in Milan this weekend for public tribute, followed by a private ceremony as per Armani’s wishes.
