Procrastination is the act of pushing forward what can be done now. It is one habit that has enveloped many individuals. In some cases, it seems people have no control over it. However, with determination and discipline, procrastination will not take a dominant place in a person’s life. Let’s take a look at some methods to beat procrastination.
Have a to-do list
Having a to-do list will help you to have an order of what you are to do. It is advisable to have daily to-do list. It will help to ease your mind from the many works you have planned for the month. Also, having daily plans will help you to keep track of what is achievable and what is not. It eases tension that would have occurred from having too much to do without a plan.
Take action
This is where the main work is. Having a to-do list that you will not work on doesn’t make sense. In fact, it defeats the purpose of the plan. Taking action to carry out every work on your list means that the aim for it is being actualised.
Be disciplined
It takes a great level of discipline to follow through one’s routine for the day, week and month. Individuals with long term goals will need to be disciplined to achieve their goals. It is lack of discipline that make people give up half way into a task. For instance, for people who desire to loss or gain weight, results can only be achieved through discipline. No matter how inconvenient it is, endeavor to be disciplined.
Remain consistent
If you do not want the spirit of procrastination to dwell in you, you have to be consistent with what you do. With discipline, you can achieve your goal to a certain level. However, with consistency, you can strive to exceed that goal. Just like discipline, consistency isn’t easy but it is achievable.
Have a goal partner
In order to beat procrastination, you can have a partner who constantly puts you in check. It is the duty of your partner or friend to urge and encourage you to keep pushing towards your goal. There are certain goals that needs to be achieved with the backing of others. It is important that one should be willing so that one’s partner does not get frustrated in a bid to encourage one to achieve one’s goal.
