The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to ensuring greater representation for women in both elective and appointive positions in the next political cycle.
Yilwatda made this declaration yesterday, while receiving a high-powered delegation of the party’s women wing at the APC National Headquarters in Wuse II, Abuja.
The delegation, led by the National Women Leader, Mary Alile Idele, included zonal and state women leaders from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Addressing the delegation, he described women as the “enduring pillars” of the ruling party, noting their steadfastness and mobilization efforts during both triumphs and challenges.
He compared the presence of women in the party to flowers that provide beauty and fragrance to a home, stating that they bring essential value, energy, and inspiration to the APC’s political structures.

“Our women have consistently demonstrated capacity, competence, resilience, and loyalty to the party,” Yilwatda said.
“It is only fitting that they occupy more seats at decision-making tables across the country.”
The chairman emphasised that the party’s leadership is determined to move beyond rhetoric by securing more concrete opportunities for women in governance.
He noted that the future of the next generation depends on the inclusivity of the political opportunities created today.

Yilwatda pledged to remain a vocal advocate for the cause of women, ensuring that their contributions are not only recognized but also rewarded with key leadership roles at the local, state, and federal levels.
The meeting highlighted the following key priorities for the party’s women wing.
Yilwatda said he would make sure they actively secure more seats for women in upcoming legislative and executive appointments and utilize the mobilization capacity of women to fortify the party’s grassroots reach ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said he’ll ensure that the voices of women leaders are integrated into the core decision-making processes at the National Headquarters.
The visit by Idele and her team is part of a series of strategic engagements by the APC leadership to unify various party organs and streamline the party’s agenda for national development.
