Popular gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori has apologised following backlash over her comments on the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State.
In a video shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, the gospel artiste addressed concerns raised by Nigerians, saying she was sorry that her earlier remarks were interpreted as being insensitive to the suffering of the victims and their families.
Alaseyori stated that she never intended to minimise the seriousness of the kidnapping incident or disregard the emotions of those directly affected.
“I did a video two days ago about the kidnapped children, touching on government, parastatals and every agency. But when I woke up yesterday, I found out that some well-meaning Nigerians were not happy about it, as I made them feel their voices are unheard,” she said.

The singer said she was deeply troubled by the reactions that followed the video and appealed to Nigerians, especially parents of affected children, for forgiveness if her words caused pain.
“You know me too well that I would never make you feel like that. Mothers, do not be offended. I am sorry. I beg in God’s name. Please, forgive me. I would never think like that. Pardon and forgive me,” she added.
Her apology comes after widespread criticism of a previous video in which she encouraged Nigerians to continue praying over the country’s security situation. In the video, she also maintained that the Federal Government and President Bola Tinubu were making efforts to secure the release of the abducted victims, restore peace and address insecurity.
