A large-scale protest is scheduled to take place across Nigeria on April 7, 2025, demanding the repeal of the controversial Cybercrime Act.
Organized by the Take It Back movement, the nationwide demonstration is set to begin at 7:00 AM in various locations, including Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Maiduguri, Minna, and Abuja.
Protesters will gather to voice their opposition to bad governance and the suppression of free speech, particularly focusing on the harmful implications of the Cybercrime Act, which has been accused of stifling freedom of expression and criminalizing dissent.
The protest will converge at multiple key points, including: Iwo Road, Ibadan, Sabon Kaura Junction, Bauchi (Opposite Bauchi College), Isaac Boro Park, Port Harcourt, Gamboru Ngla Flyover, Maiduguri,
National Assembly, Abuja.
Protesters are calling for an end to the oppressive measures that curtail free speech and suppress critical voices.

As stated in the movement’s announcement, the fight is for Nigeria’s future: “If we keep silent and hide indoors, insecurity and hunger will kill us. Every tweet they criminalize, every critic they jail, is proof we need to fight back.”
Supporters argued that the Cybercrime Act is a direct threat to the citizens’ ability to speak freely and criticize the government without fear of reprisal.
The protest will be a crucial step in resisting these injustices and advocating for the fundamental right to free expression.
