The Joint Revenue Board (JRB) and Nigerian Revenue Services (NRS) have launched the Nigerian Tax ID Portal, effective January 1, 2026.
Individuals can retrieve their 13-digit Tax ID using the National Identification Number (NIN).
Businesses use their Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration number for retrieval.
The portal operates at www.taxidjtb.gov.ng or www.taxidnrs.gov.ng.
For individuals, users select the “Individual” tab, choose NIN, enter the 11-digit number, provide first name, last name, and date of birth as registered with NIMC, then retrieve the ID.

For registered entities, users select the “Corporate” tab, choose organisation type, enter CAC number, and retrieve the ID.
This system eliminates separate Tax ID registration, as NIN automatically serves individuals and CAC numbers serve businesses.
The initiative supports new tax reform laws, simplifying administration and compliance.
Presidential Committee Chairman Taiwo Oyedele confirmed implementation proceeds as planned, delivering relief for workers and small businesses.
These measures enhance tax efficiency and inclusivity across Nigeria’s fiscal framework.
