The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its timetable for the 2026 nationwide congresses and National Convention, signalling a major step in the party’s leadership renewal process.
In a statement issued by party officials, including National Organising Secretary Chinedu Idigo and National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC confirmed that the exercise fulfils its constitutional obligation to refresh and restructure leadership at every level.
The process will follow a bottom-up approach, beginning at polling units and wards before progressing to local government and state levels, culminating in the election of national officers.

The party described the initiative as a crucial mechanism for renewing leadership across its entire structure.

“This process forms part of our party’s constitutional responsibility to renew leadership structures at all levels of the organisation,” the statement said.
The Polling Unit and Ward Congresses will hold on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
The Local Government Area (LGA) Congresses are scheduled for Thursday, 9 April. State Congresses will take place on Saturday, 11 April. while the National Convention is set for Tuesday, 14 April.
The party encouraged all members interested in contesting vacant positions to actively participate in the democratic process.

Aspirants at the ward, local government, or state levels are instructed to obtain and submit nomination or expression-of-interest forms through the party’s official website.
The party leaders also urged members nationwide to uphold order and adhere strictly to the party constitution and democratic principles throughout the exercise.
