FG shifts population census to May

The Federal Government has shifted the 2023 population and housing census earlier scheduled for March 29 to May 2023.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed disclosed this to State House correspondents at the end of the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Abuja.

FEC also approved 2.8 billion naira for the procurement of software for the conduct of the census.

According to the Minister, the postponement was necessitated by the rescheduling of the governorship elections from March 11 to March 18.
