Jhon Duran has made another surprising career switch, joining Turkish giants Fenerbahce on a one-year loan from Al-Nassr.
The Colombian striker’s move comes just six months after sealing a high-profile £71 million transfer from Aston Villa to the Saudi club.
Fenerbahce confirmed the loan deal in an official statement, expressing confidence in the 21-year-old’s potential. “We wish our player a season full of success under our striped jersey,” the club wrote.
The Turkish club, now managed by Jose Mourinho, finished second in the Super Lig last season. They are determined to bolster their attack ahead of a new campaign – and Duran’s arrival adds depth and promise to the squad.

Duran enjoyed a prolific run in front of goal at Al-Nassr, scoring 12 times in 18 appearances. Before that, his time at Aston Villa showed flashes of brilliance, netting 12 goals in 29 games – though most of his minutes came from the bench.

Despite his talent, Duran found it hard to displace Ollie Watkins in Villa’s frontline. Out of his 78 total appearances for the English side, 61 were from the bench.
His loan spell at Fenerbahce could prove pivotal, especially with Mourinho’s tactical expertise and the club’s hunger for trophies. Moreover, the Colombian international, with three goals in 17 caps, will hope regular football reignites his international form.
Meanwhile, Al-Nassr continues to reshape its squad, having recently extended Cristiano Ronaldo’s stay with a new two-year deal. Although Duran departs, the Saudi Pro League side remains a high-profile project with global ambitions.
Now in Turkey, Duran has the platform to thrive. With Mourinho’s trust and Fenerbahce’s attacking flair, he could be the breakout star of the Super Lig this season.
