Nollywood actor Stan Nze has shared his views on what makes relationships and marriages last, saying genuine love goes beyond emotions and physical attraction.
He also stated that cheating can be forgiven in some situations, provided it does not become a repeated pattern.
Speaking during an interview, the actor was asked whether love alone is enough to keep a relationship or marriage together.
In his response, Stan explained that there is no simple answer to the question because the meaning of love differs from person to person.
He said the kind of love that helps relationships survive challenges is not based on temporary feelings or excitement.
According to him, true love is rooted in commitment, sacrifice, patience, kindness and a willingness to put the needs of another person above one’s own.

The actor noted that many relationships break down when partners are unable to forgive each other after mistakes are made.
He said forgiveness remains one of the most important qualities needed for a healthy and lasting union, adding that couples must be willing to move past certain offences if they want their relationship to grow.
Stan also addressed the issue of infidelity during the conversation. He said he believes a partner can forgive cheating, but added that forgiveness should not be mistaken for acceptance of continued bad behaviour.

According to him, while people can make mistakes and seek forgiveness, there must also be a genuine effort to change. He maintained that forgiving a partner does not mean allowing the same offence to happen repeatedly without consequences.
The actor stressed that real love is selfless and focuses on understanding, patience and mercy.
He said relationships often face difficult moments, and the ability to forgive can play a major role in helping couples overcome those challenges.
He said: “Real love is enough, am not talking about ‘butterflies in your tummy’… not that. The love that Christ preached, the one that is agape, the love in Galatians 5:23, it’s not built on flesh, it’s genuine. The one that’s selfless, the one that’s kind, forgives easily because the things that happen in marriage or relationship that don’t make it work, the fact that you cannot forgive. Love is enough if it’s the right love.
