He sais that while he sometimes accepts invitations to perform in churches, his work does not fully align with conventional church ministry.

The singer shared that performing in churches has occasionally drawn criticism from members of the Christian community.

He said this response comes from the themes his music explores, which include topics the church often avoids, such as love and human relationships.

Johnny Drille added that churches rarely address certain aspects of love, despite their importance in everyday life.

He also pointed out that secular songs often dominate Christian weddings, raising questions about why similar Christian-themed love songs are not promoted within the church.

He wrote: “I love God and I’m very much involved in church, but I never really felt my music was for church. Sometimes I get invited to perform in church, which is quite interesting.

“I’ve gotten some backlash from the Christian community whenever I perform in churches. But the truth is my music spreads positivity. It touches the issues the church tries to avoid.”

He added, “The church shies away from talking about love. You go to Christian weddings you hear Davido and Wizkid song. What if the church decides that we want to start doing their own Christian love songs.”
