Nigerian music star Iyanya has shared a deeply emotional story about one of the darkest periods in his life, a time marked by the loss of three close family members in quick succession.
During a recent interview with media personality Hero Daniels, the singer recounted how he lost his father, brother, and mother over a two-year period, describing it as the lowest moment in both his life and career.
Iyanya disclosed that his father died just a few days before he secured his first major music deal. Still mourning that loss, he was hit by another tragedy when his brother passed away shortly after his debut into the music scene.

However, the most painful moment came with the death of his mother. He revealed that he received the devastating news just minutes before going on stage to perform.
“The lowest points of my life were losing three family members in two years,” Iyanya shared. “My dad passed about seven or eight days before I got signed. Right after my debut, my brother died. And then my mom.
“The day she died, I was backstage. My uncle kept calling, and when I finally picked up, he told me, ‘Your mom is dead.’ I was shattered, but I still went ahead and performed.”
Iyanya noted that despite the emotional toll, he chose to stay strong and push forward with his music — a decision that has defined his journey through grief and perseverance in the industry.
