Nigerian music star Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has shared details about the difficulties he faced at the beginning of his journey in the industry.
Speaking during an interview with Famous TV, the singer said there was a time when some show organisers turned him down because he performed mainly in Yoruba.
According to him, this happened when he was still trying to build his name and gain attention as a new artiste.
Asake explained that many people were not ready to give him a chance on stage because of his choice of language.
Despite the rejection, he refused to change his style or switch from singing in Yoruba just to please others. He said he decided to remain true to himself and his sound.
The Sungba crooner added that his progress today did not happen overnight.

He said his growth came through God’s grace, strong belief in himself, steady effort, and patience. Even when doors were closed against him, he continued working hard and trusted that things would improve with time.
Looking back now, Asake said he feels proud of how far he has come.
“How I got to where I am today is by God’s grace, self-belief, consistency, and endurance. At some point, a lot of people said no to me; they didn’t allow me to perform at shows because I spoke Yoruba. But thank God I didn’t stop, and I kept believing in myself.
“Now, look at where I am today. I am so happy for myself,” the singer said.
