Justin Bieber diagnosed with facial paralysis

Canadian musician, Justin Bieber, has been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which has left him unable to move half of his face and unable to take the stage.

The Ramsay Hunt syndrome (RHS) is a rare neurological disorder characterized by paralysis of the facial nerve (facial palsy) and a rash affecting the ear or mouth. Ear abnormalities such as ringing in the ears (tinnitus) and hearing loss may also be present.

Ramsay Hunt syndrome is caused by the varicella zoster virus (VZV); the same virus that causes chickenpox in children and shingles (herpes zoster) in adults.

Justin Bieber on Friday, June 10 made a three-minute video on Friday to share his condition with the public.

Beiber said he’s suffering facial paralysis and needed to take a long rest.

“As you can probably see with my face. I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome.”

Beiber explained that the cause is a virus that attacks the nerves in his ear, facial nerves “and has caused my face to have paralysis”.

“I’ve done everything to get better but my sickness is getting worse”, he said.

The Canadian singer earlier announced that he was postponing a few shows of his Justice World Tour due to “non-Covid related illness”.
