Ondo @48: Aiyedatiwa pays tribute to founding fathers

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Saturday saluted the courage and sacrifices of the state’s founding fathers on the 48th anniversary of its creation.

Ondo State, which was carved out from the old Western Region, was created on the 3rd of February 1976 by the military administration of General Murtala Muhammed.

Since its creation 48 years ago, Ondo State has seen 19 governors: 12 military and seven civilian, including Governor Aiyedatiwa, who took office on the 27th of December 2023 following the demise of the immediate past governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

In his anniversary message, Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the foresight and invaluable contributions of the state’s founding fathers towards Ondo’s sustainable development and inclusive growth.

The governor emphasized that without the sacrifices and selflessness of the founding fathers, the state would not have achieved its current status, although it holds the potential for further greatness.

Although some of the founding fathers have passed away, the governor urged their surviving generations to continue taking pride in their forebears’ contributions and to contribute their own quota to the state’s development.

Governor Aiyedatiwa promised to build on the worthy legacies of the founding fathers and assured the citizens of his administration’s commitment to maximizing the state’s potential for the benefit of all.

Congratulating the people of the state on the anniversary, the governor also urged them to continue supporting his administration as it steers the state towards prosperity.
