People still body shame me despite losing weight – Eniola Badmus

Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has opened up about the criticism she continues to face despite losing almost half of her body weight, saying hurtful comments have followed her before and after her transformation.

The actress shared new photos on her Instagram page on Thursday while reflecting on her five-year weight loss journey.

She revealed that she weighed 170 kilograms five years ago but now weighs 83 kilograms after years of discipline, sacrifice and making healthier choices.

Describing the journey as one of the toughest periods of her life, Badmus said, “Five years ago, I weighed 170KG. Today, in 2026, I weigh 83KG. That didn’t happen overnight. It took years of discipline, sacrifice, pain, consistency, tears, setbacks and choosing my health every single day.”

She said she is proud of how far she has come but admitted that the constant criticism has been painful. According to her, many of the same people who mocked her when she was overweight are still attacking her after she lost nearly 90 kilograms.

“The same people who body-shamed me when I was plus-size are the same people body-shaming me now that I’ve lost the weight. What exactly do you want from me?” she asked.

Badmus explained that changes in her skin are natural after losing so much weight and said she is taking care of herself by staying healthy and using collagen as her body continues to adjust.

She also revealed that although she often ignores negative comments online, they still affect her emotionally.

“Just because I don’t respond to the insults doesn’t mean they don’t hurt. It doesn’t mean I’m weak. It doesn’t mean I don’t have feelings. I’m human,” she said.

The actress urged people to stop focusing on what they believe is wrong with her appearance and instead recognise the determination it took to achieve such a major transformation.

She also called on women to be kinder to one another, noting that many of the harsh comments directed at her come from other women.

“Nobody deserves to be bullied for being plus-size, and nobody deserves to be bullied for losing weight either. I’m proud of my journey. I’m still growing, still healing and still becoming the best version of myself,” she added.

Badmus first drew attention to her slimmer appearance in 2021 after taking a break from social media.

In 2022, she disclosed that she underwent gastric bypass surgery in Turkey after struggling to control her eating habits and deciding to place her health first.
