Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have been hit with heavy sanctions following crowd trouble during their NPFL Matchday 32 fixture against Ikorodu City. The club will pay a total fine of N5 million and play behind closed doors for the rest of the season.
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Disciplinary Committee found 3SC guilty of multiple offences, including inadequate security and fan misconduct. As a result, the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan has been shut to fans indefinitely.
The most alarming incident involved an attack on the Ikorodu City FC contingent, which included damage to the visiting team’s bus. Consequently, Shooting Stars must compensate Ikorodu City with a fine of N2 million.

In addition to that, the club was slammed with three separate N1 million fines due to various breaches of league rules. For failing to provide effective security, which allowed unauthorized persons to access restricted areas and harass officials, a fine was imposed.

Furthermore, the panel cited a violation of Rule C9, stating:
“You are in breach of Rule C9 of the Frameworks and Rules of the Nigeria Premier Football League, in that on Sunday, 06th April 2025, in the course of Match Day 32 Fixture: Shooting Stars vs. Ikorodu City, you failed to ensure the proper conduct of your supporters, which resulted in the assault on the away team supporters.
“Moreover, an additional N1 million fine was handed out for failure to control fans, whose actions endangered others. For breaching Rule B13.18, the club must pay yet another N1 million, owing to objects thrown at officials and onto the pitch.”

The panel emphasised that such behaviour tarnishes the league’s reputation and cannot be overlooked. Consequently, they ruled that fans be barred from attending home games at Lekan Salami Stadium.
Meanwhile, under Rule C26, the club has been given 48 hours to respond to the sanctions. Shooting Stars must either accept the ruling or file an official appeal before the deadline expires.
