Former reality TV star and streamer, Phyna, has predicted that Nigeria’s growing streaming industry could soon collapse, blaming the trend on streamers who prioritise virality over meaningful content.
Phyna made the prediction during a recent livestream with Jeffrey Benson, where she criticised the growing culture of “clip farming” among Nigerian streamers.
According to her, many Nigerians now promote streamers based on how viral their content becomes rather than the quality of their work, the niches they build or the impact they make.
She claimed that the pressure to attract streams and remain relevant has pushed some creators into staging stunts and telling lies solely to generate viral moments.

Phyna admitted that she was also “crazy” when she began streaming but eventually toned down her approach because she could not match the energy of some male streamers.
“Streaming in Nigeria will soon collapse because Nigerians push streamers that clip farm, go crazy and tell lies just to entertain streams. I was crazy when I started but I decided to chill because I am a lady and I can’t keep up with that,” Phyna said.
She subsequently urged fellow streamers to focus on creating meaningful content instead of constantly chasing clout and viral moments.
