Ushering in a new era in Black History and Consciousness

We have made commendable growth in the black community. While we still have a milestone to cover, we must bring to notice what stage we are in development.

Let us start with laying the foundation for analysis.

The Dark Ages

There was a time where darkness covered Europe, and the world we see was strongly believed to be a flat sheet. The truth was based on fear and human prejudices and the people lived in ignorant simplicity.

The evolution from what we call the dark ages ushered in the age of exploration. Laying the foundation for innovation which was characterised by a fundamental shift in human reasoning and philosophies. A transition from just the spirit of man to an emphasis on the mind, people wanted valid answers.

From that point in the 15th century till date, Europe has undergone a monumental transformation in infrastructure and civilisation. This has placed them in the top rankings of the world.

Regardless, every civilisation moves through stages. To completely disregard a structural culture based on the stage they are in is ignorant.

African Renaissance

“The world will not respect Africa until Nigeria earns that respect. The black people of the world need Nigeria to be great as a source of pride and confidence.”

Nelson Mandela

Comparing these events with Africa, using Nigeria as a case study, it seems like we have been stuck at the genesis stage. Still unable to break out into sustainable series of growth.

2020: A spark of revolution

In the past couple of years, anyone in tune can see a paradigm shift has swept across Nigeria. 2020 might not have been everything we expected, yet it sparked something.

The pandemic caught everyone by surprise, prophets didn’t see it coming and more importantly, religious activities were shut down. Nigeria is a religious country, and for months people’s hands were tied.

Still we realised you would not receive a hard knock from above if for some reason you can’t make it to a religious gathering.

Moving forward to October 2020, a powerful wave of political consciousness sparked nationally. Although it was cut shot by the evil perpetrators, Rest in peace to our fallen soldiers.

The aftermath is what we see today in political awareness, for the first time there is resistance against the status quo.

Amongst this generation, I believe that we are experiencing a ripple effect of these said events, which is charging us towards the battle lines of change.

We are crystal clear about the maliciousness of the people in power. However, the only power we have as citizens is in our numbers. This is not a period for the negligence of leaving things to chance.

Nigeria needs you and I. Ensure to perform your civic duties, the voice of the people is the voice of God. Selah.
