We as children don’t have Fela’s tatoos on our bodies – Kunle Kuti reacts to Wizkid, Seun feud

Kunle Kuti, the son of late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has reacted to the ongoing online clash between his younger brother, Seun Kuti, and popular singer Wizkid.

Speaking during an appearance on The Cable, Kunle said he felt unhappy about how often Wizkid is compared to his late father.

He explained that such comparisons are not fair and are not needed, adding that both musicians should be respected for who they are and what they have achieved in their own careers.

Kunle, who is Fela’s second son, said he is a strong fan of Wizkid and described the singer as the only artiste he has ever made a personal effort to meet.

He revealed that he went as far as pleading with Wizkid’s manager, Sunday Are, just to have a chance to see him in person.

He also spoke about Wizkid’s tattoo of Fela, saying the gesture made him admire the singer even more.

Kunle noted that none of Fela’s children, including himself, have ever tattooed their father’s image on their bodies, which made Wizkid’s action stand out to him.

According to Kunle, he does not support placing Wizkid side by side with Fela, stressing that he prefers to enjoy Wizkid’s music without dragging his father into comparisons.

He made it clear that his love for Wizkid is based on the singer’s work and personal respect for Fela’s legacy.
