Nigerian musicians Wizkid and Seun Kuti are involved in a public feud after disagreements over comparisons to the late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.
The dispute began when Seun rejected claims that Wizkid is greater or more influential than his father, arguing that Fela’s role as a cultural and political figure cannot be measured by commercial success alone.
Seun also criticized online fans for frequently bringing Fela into debates about contemporary music, describing it as disrespectful.
He insisted that modern popularity does not equal the historical impact his father had on music and society.
The conflict escalated when Wizkid responded on social media, defending his achievements and asserting that he surpasses Fela in terms of current musical influence.
