Afrobeats singer Made Kuti has explained why he did not kneel while proposing to his wife, Inedoye Onyenso.
The Grammy-nominated musician said he believes marriage should be a joint decision between two people and not a situation where one person appears to beg the other for acceptance.
According to him, both partners should willingly agree to spend their lives together.
Made shared his view during a recent episode of the Timeless Podcast aired on the Nix Network YouTube channel.

During the discussion, he said he chose not to go on one knee because he saw the proposal as an agreement reached by both of them.

“I did not go down on my knees when proposing to my wife because I told her it was a mutual decision. We are not begging each other to be with each other,” he said.
The singer and Inedoye Onyenso got married in a private wedding ceremony held in Lagos in November 2023.
Made Kuti is the son of late Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, one of Nigeria’s most famous music icons.
